Upower Africa’s Chairman of the board
Mr Mungani was previously employed by Eskom at Arnot Power Station as a Control and Instrumentation Engineer. He is currently working for Sasol Mining as part of engineering team responsible for Engineering Asset Management. He is also a part-time lecture of Systems and Project Management at Vaal University of Technology (VUT) Secunda satellite campus.
Growing in financial hardships, the only hope for tertiary education was on passing matric with results that will attract scholarship, bursary or financial aid. This allowed Mr Mungani to study BSc Electrical Engineering (LC) at University of the Witwatersrand sponsored by Eskom bursary. He continued beyond undergraduate study and completed his Masters in Engineering Management with University of Pretoria. Hardship did not only motivate him, it also developed in him a strong desire for community upliftment. This manifested through additional Mathematics and Physical Science classes he offered to high school leaners throughout his university years. After graduating from Varsity and together with some friends he unsuccessfully attempted to establish an alumni club for further supporting high school leaners.
