Video About Our Story

Upower Africa evolved from our CEO’s experience of hardship during his life as a primary and secondary school learner as well his hardship experience during his tertiary studies. This hardship experience helped him to discover his purpose in life which is to contribute in assisting an African child to realize his/her dream of overcoming poverty using education as a weapon. His hardship experience and hard earned education has called for different radio stations and TV hosts locally and abroad to document his touching story. Recent interviews that Rendani, Founder and CEO of UPower Africa has done are The BBC World service radio http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02vgft8 and a South African Dstv chanel 403, Enca in “Against all odds” programme: http://www.enca.com/media/video/against-all-odds-young-shepherd-becomes-geologist.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”― Nelson Mandela

From the buildup of charity works that the Rendani has been doing dating back from 2003, He then realized that there are other Africans with similar passion and through combined effort much can be achieved.

UPower Africa began in October 2014 as one man offering personal assistance to learners in rural areas where He grew up from. Buying study materials and rendering career guidance. This led to the institutionalization of these combined effort under the Upower Africa banner.

Because of a number of successful projects together with our aggressive marketing strategy, UPower Africa is now attractive to institutions in Africa and abroad. In order for institutions to commit their resources to the cause of this organization, UPower Africa has proved and will continue to prove that it has the capacity and world-class governance in place to tackle the challenges of young people in Africa. Our Transparency and effort has positioned us to be trusted in redistributing the resources we may get to learners in need. UPower Africa is a world-class organization which has both capacity and a Board of Directors for proper governance. The official launch was done in August 2015 in South African Offices, Pretoria (Bronkhorstspruit)

As UPower we are aware that Africa is large continent with many challenges that are interlocked to educational development. We encourage all citizens and outside to face these challenges collectively. We believe Change is us and we will better the continent with what we have!
